GROW TO SHOW

This year we started a Grow to Show project. We have a lot of information posted in the file section. Also some photo’s and we meet in the chat room every Thursday evening at five pacific time. We talk about how our plants are doing and where to go with them next.

There about thirty that have signed up. Some growing to show for our on line show that will be On April first 2004. Some are growing to show for there own club shows.

Cheryl has been growing for her club show. Her club hosted the Texas state convention. Cheryl took eight plants to be in the show. All eight won Blue Ribbons. This was Cheryl’s first time to show African Violets. We are all so happy with her and I might add we were anxious for her to report back to us. One plant she showed was Comet and it had the most unusual bloom. Each bloom had three blooms inside the bloom. Cheryl is working with the plant to cross it with it self to see if she can duplicate the bloom. I have to say Cheryl has done one fine job and I for one am so proud of her. The other plants Cheryl shown and won blue ribbons with are. Ultra Violet Billy, Ultra Violet Meteor, Anthoflores Lila, Ma’s Silk Flowers, Pink Summit, Cool Blue, Texas Buttercup. You can see all Cheryl’s winning plants at http://community.webshots.com/user/ritabelew

Thank you Cheryl for joining our chat group and good luck. I see many African Violet shows in your future.

To the rest of you I would like to say, Drop by our Thursday chats and join in. You do not have to show to learn a lot about how to get your violets to bloom at a time you want them to.
